What is minimalism, there are few different definitions by different people base on different standard. However, the main purpose of minimalism is to reduce the things that we don't really need and evaluate the essentials in our lives.

Recently, I heard this topic from a pod cast , Lavendaire Lifestyle where the host Aileen shared about her journey of minimalism. So, I want to share with you guys about this amazing concept.
"The Simplest Things Are Always The Truest.
It's not the first time I heard about minimalism. I knew this concept few years ago, but I didn't think much of it. Because I am not that type of person having too many things. After I graduated from University. I've spent a year bag packing in Australia.
Therefore, I tried to be as simple as possible. You know, it's hard to take too much stuff with you when you traveled. That was the time I realized that we don't necessarily need so much stuff. For me at the time, I felt light and relieved. Most importantly, I was as happy as I was before. Materials doesn't define who you are or make you happier.
In this pod cast, Aileen recommended a book, "The life changing of magic by tidying up" written by author Marie Kondo. I didn't read it yet but I already ordered that book, cause I am eager to read it. Marie Kondo had divided up 5 categories to clothes, books, papers, miscellaneous and mementos. I will definitely write about it after I read it.
But for sure, applying minimalism in your life is not that easy, if your are just starting out!
Here are 4 tips on how to embrace minimalism lifestyle shared by Aileen.
Minimalism is not that you should own nothing. But that nothing should own you.
Tip number 1: Start Cluttering Your Things And Start SMALL.
In this modern world today, we sometimes buying things that we want instead of things we need. I believe we are in awe of people who live in minimalism, but sometimes the role model would be too extreme for normal people. It's impossible to start from 0 to 100. That why people give up easily. It's all about get into the process and not perfection. Because there is no perfection in life long journey. So, start small. If you clutter something small from your life, even if it's just one pair shoes as long as it makes you feel good. That's progress.
Tip number 2: Apply Minimalism To All Parts Of Your Life.
Minimalism is not merely about materials. You can apply it into your work, your relationship and your lifestyle. For example, to-do list, cut out too many things you need to do instead of things you should do. Eat that frog. Read my another article about to-do list here!
Evaluate people around you, undeniable that it took energy and effort to build and manage a relationship. We have to admit that some people don't bring any value and well being to our lives. That's cruel but it is true. You just have to brave enough and be honest to yourself.
Tip number 3: Do What Applies For You And At Your Own Pace.
In this journey, there are going to be people who judge and stop you inevitably. Minimalism is not all or nothing. You can incorporate bits and pieces into your life as along as you benefit from it. Remember, it's up to you to decide what works for you. See it as a guide line not a rule book. Do it at your own pace. Don't compare your journey with another. Because at the end of the day, you have to live by your own rules. You create how you want to live and what believe you want to follow. Same as my journey in Veganism, set your own pace, you don't have to be a 100% vegan overnight.
Tip number 4: Make Space For What Matters For You.
In minimalism lifestyle,we cleared out junks for space. Likewise, you should apply it into your life and your time. Save space for your love ones, save time for doing something you are passionate about, something that brings you happiness and fulfillment. Making space that really matters for you.
At the end, I hope this concept can give you some ideas and inspirations. Again, it's not all or nothing process. You are able to incorporate parts of minimalism into your life as long as it works for you.
"The Best Things In Life Aren't Things."
Through Aileen, I've learned an important message, there are going to be someone judge you but there will be always someone benefit from what you share. Think positively and SMILE! Bye~
