I am always an animal person. Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted a dog or a cat. But I never had one because my family lived in an apartment that wouldn’t allow it.
However, I had a hamster when I was at elementary school. It was popular at the time. Every kid at school had one. So, I bought one from my classmate secretly.
And my second pet was a bird. It was a beautiful little bird with olive green on its back and pale green on its underside. We rescued it off the street. I believed it was injured after flew out the nest. We were told that mother bird would abandon the baby once we already touched it and left our smell on it. Therefore, we kept it.
Both of my pets died at the end, yeah, it was sad. They brought so much joy to my life. I am grateful for that. Keeping pets taught me a lot. Having love and care for something. I think it is important for a child’s learning process. It also requires a lot of responsibility. Not just have fun, but also take them out, clean the poo and gloom them and love them. They are like little kids, have emotions, eager to be love and care too. And it also taught me how to deal with death after I lost them.
We do have a dog in the big family. I would go over to my cousin’s home from time to time, they have a pretty boy. He is a red mini poodle. He is sweet and smart. There is another reason why we don’t keep a dog. My mom is allergic to dog dander and fur. She would got swollen eyes and itchy skin. But she still would pet my cousin’s dog every time she came across him anyway. He is too adorable. It is hard to consist.
After years, I wouldn’t consider to buy a pet anymore. Because of the rising awareness of adaption. We can now easily to rescue a dog from a puppy mill or adapt one at animal organization. There are too many abandon dogs these days. Most off them would be put into sleep after got caught. If you are ready to provide a home, then why not?
Okay, I'll leave it here! Talk to you soon. Bye~
